Is anyone excluded from the RFA procedure?
- Radio Frequency Ablation will not performed during pregnancy or for a duration of 3 months thereafter.
- A patient who has had a recent deep vein thrombosis, or a patient who is not active may be excluded from the procedure.
- If there is a history of an old deep vein thrombosis, the ultrasound scan will determine the individuals suitability to the procedure.
- Various factors on ultrasound scanning may make this treatment difficult such as the size or tortuosity of the vein or if there has been previous surgery, but all cases are individualised.
